This week, I’m thrilled to announce my involvement with CollegeFashionista for the fall semester. As if I needed another reason to extend myself in other creative fields, I’m wildly anticipating this opportunity to report as a Style Guru and make significant discoveries about the way others interpret style, beauty and fashion trends.
I’m a sophomore at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, currently working towards my associate degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications. Upon receiving my associate, I plan on pursuing a bachelor degree in International Trade and Marketing for the Fashion Industries. When I’m not busy with classes, as the assistant vice president in the national Retail Federation Student Association, I’m checking emails from my creative and collaborative team as we go back and forth sharing ideas that will produce fun and beneficial outcomes for the semester.
Few things unite us like fashion. The intuitiveness and the exertion are two aspects that continue to excite me about fashion and how it represents the beauty of one’s unique artistic voice.
I’m intrinsically motivated to constantly evolve and improve my sense of style. This process is inspired by life’s simplest elements. New York City is remarkable for its concrete beauty and diverse outdoor activities, so as an adventurer at heart, I find inspiration in my surroundings and day-to-day details.
I began to deliberately turn my focus toward these things, and immediately I’m struck with boundless inspiration. When I’m getting dressed, I begin with not knowing what exactly I’m looking for since I feel the most responsive to outfits I put together spontaneously. Everything just comes together organically.
Towards the end of the week when things start to slow down and I have a day of rest, the essential building blocks for a relaxed outfit starts with comfort. I encourage pairing together a loose fitting tank top, your favorite casual pants and some Converse. Here, I amped up the look by wearing my tank top backwards and throwing over a denim jacket that is light enough to wear in the heat without being constricting.
