Hello, Fashionista/o’s! My name is Aaron Royce, and I’m so excited to be starting my first semester of college as a Style Guru! I’m a freshman at Christopher Newport University, where I’m pursuing a communications degree with a potential minor in journalism. Eventually, I want to use that degree to become a full-time writer (and editor) for GQ or Harper’s Bazaar, where I can make a career out of my two favorite things: writing and clothes.
My interest in fashion derives from the beauty part of it;Â that is, clothes (and accessories, etc.) that are so mind-bogglingly stunning you can’t look away from them! Favored couture ads and GQ magazine spreads have always been my main inspirations for forming a truly great outfit, no matter if I’m going to classes, spending a few hours at the mall or just grabbing a quick meal. If our eyes are the windows to our souls, then our clothes are the windows to all aspects of our lives: who we want to be, what we aspire to do and the road we’ll take to get there.
I think most outfits are really fantastic when they incorporate a great accessory or singular piece and become truly memorable. To that end, I always like keeping my outfits varied, with a bit of rock n’ roll edge from fun prints and jewelry. I don’t have a permanently set style; I like to switch it up from time to time to try and create a unique, fluid aesthetic for myself and my wardrobe (usually with versatile pieces, like my favorite Giles and Brother bracelet that I wear with almost everything).
I love writing, reading, photography, concerts and taking hikes through whatever natural surroundings I happen to be in. I believe in the color black, the magic of Sophia Coppola movies and the everlasting appeal of a good leather jacket.
I can’t wait to see the exciting things this new semester will bring!
