Hello Fashionistas/Fashionistos! My name is Abby Advincula, and I’m a senior at the University of Washington Tacoma. I am a full-time student double majoring in psychology and communications. I have been a manager in the retail industry for five years and hope to one day move into corporate management. I’m a sneaker enthusiast and an aspiring makeup artist. My hobbies range from photography to recreating recipes I find on BuzzFeed and reposting cute baby animal videos.
Born and raised as a traveling military kid, I’ve learned that creating long lasting friendships and networking is what helped me develop not only my personality growing up but also my style and aspirations. My first love was discovered behind the camera lens where I learned beauty could be seen and developed by your own vision. Then I learned that my true first love that was lost and then found was sneakers. Since I was a baby my father bought me my first pair of sneakers and until this day I have continued to collect all types of sneakers from the well-renowned infamous Michael Jordan to the casual and lifestyle Nikes. Followed by that, my love for fashion appeared and shortly after that my passion for makeup blossomed.
My style is compartmentalized by my moods, inspirations, favorite styles and recycled trends. Some days I’ll throw my hair into a messy bun to match my comfortable Nike apparel and kicks or I’ll throw on a pop of color on my lips to match my urban-meets-business attire. I’m all about urban street wear due to growing up with a family who was all about the hip hop golden ages. Don’t get me wrong, I love a pair of nude heels or black booties paired up with a cute T-shirt dress and of course some curls in my hair for added —but urban street wear has my heart. You’ll never catch me without my brows done, and you better believe me when I say I never leave my house without some beautiful highlight on my cheeks and nose.
As fall comes closer, I am excited to bring out the oversized cardigans, the dark/burgundy lips, short-heeled booties and, of course, my Morphe 35O pallette. Who am I kidding, I use that baby all year round. In all seriousness, I’m excited to have such an amazing opportunity and can’t wait to see where my style guru journey takes me.
