Hey fellow fashion lovers! My name is Abby Bowen, and I cannot believe I am writing my fourth Style Guru bio! I began my journey with CollegeFashionista one year ago, and I have had a wonderful time observing campus trends from all over while improving my writing and photography skills along the way.
I am a sophomore at Kent State University studying fashion merchandising with a minor in fashion media. I am completely in love with my university and my major, which makes going to class feel more like an exciting hobby than a chore. There truly is no better feeling than being passionate about what you do. Since beginning my education at Kent State, I have worked on developing my own personal style while learning a lot and growing as an individual.
When I am not in class or writing for CollegeFashionista, you can find me drinking coffee while scrolling through fashion bloggers’ Instagrams or reading a good book. I am a huge music lover and frequent concert attendee. I am also involved with multiple fashion organizations on campus, one of which I have the honor of being on the executive board.
I like to describe my personal style as bohemian with a touch of edge. I find my style influences everywhere from Instagram to people-watching to magazines. Two of my style icons include Debbie Harry and Vanessa Hudgens, hence my ’70s and New York City-inspired style. My clothing is typically flowy and loose in colors or prints, topped off with bohemian jewelry pieces. I also love adding ripped jeans, band t-shirts, or edgy elements in leather to my outfits.
I am still obsessed with the off-the-shoulder trend from summer, and I found this perfect top in velvet to carry the trend into the winter months. I paired the top with simple skinny jeans and brown booties to create a casual look I would probably wear to class. My favorite part of my outfit is my layered choker from Free People. I love this choker because it is dainty and bohemian but creates a bit of a statement.
I am so excited to share my campus street style finds and share a passion for fashion and writing with all of you this semester!
