Hello fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Abby McElvaine and I was born and raised in Washington Township, New Jersey. I am currently a junior at Saint Joseph’s University, where I am a double major in marketing and international business. I hope to some day work in retail marketing or merchandising.
Growing up with two older sisters, I tried my hardest to stand out on my own and not just be a replica of them. At a young age, I found my passion in fashion. I still remember rocking my bright pink Limited Too poncho and my flashy sequined purse! As I continued to grow, I began to watch reruns of Friends and became determined to become Rachel Green. There was something about living in New York City and working in fashion that fascinated me. I’d like to give a huge shout out to Jennifer Aniston for playing a television character that helped me find my passion and became my biggest fashion inspiration. Go Jen (and Rachel)! Having to work around a Catholic school uniform during high school helped me develop a unique ability to say a lot with a little. Thankfully, life at Saint Joseph’s University has given me much more freedom with my wardrobe.
My first style tip is the following: you don’t have to spend a fortune to look flawless. Almost everything I am wearing I got at a steep discount. In my opinion, Black Friday should be a holiday celebrated by all (as long as it starts actually on Friday and not on Thanksgiving)! I truly get more excited for Black Friday than my own birthday; there are so many steals that any Fashionista would love! This past Black Friday, I purchased my newest obsession: my burgundy pants. They are so comfortable and can easily be dressed up or down. I purchased my linear necklace from Express on Black Friday as well.
You certainly don’t need to wait for late November to get incredible deals! My new favorite website is J.Crew factory online; it’s essentially shopping at the outlets, but in the convenience of your own home! That is where I got my super comfortable black long sleeve V-neck. I recently purchased my hat at Lord & Taylor during the Friend and Family sale. I think the best thing about shopping is getting that high from finding something absolutely adorable at a killer price!
I am unbelievably excited to begin my journey as a Style Guru at CollegeFashionista, and I promise to bring you the latest and greatest fashions in 2016!
