Hi, fellow Fashionista/os! My name is Abby Bowen, and I am thrilled to say I am joining CollegeFashionista for a third semester as a Style Guru! I have had so much fun with this internship in the spring and summer, and I am really looking forward to expressing my creativity and exploring campus styles all over the country for yet another semester.
I am about to begin my sophomore year at Kent State University. I am studying fashion merchandising, and I recently declared a minor in fashion media. My freshman year at Kent State University provided me with so many opportunities to get involved and get connected with other fashion students, and IÂ grew immensely as a person, student and professional all within a single year. I can honestly say I am inspired and extremely determined to make this year even better than the last.
As someone who has grown up loving fashion, I draw inspiration from everywhere around me, whether it be music artists, street style, social media or even displays in stores. Over the past year, I have grown in creating my own personal style, taking a lot of inspiration from bohemian and retro styles of the ’60s and ’70s. I tend to be drawn to anything loose, flowy, floral print or lace. I definitely prefer wearing bright colors and prints over solid, monochromatic looks. Flared pants and platforms are some of my favorite wardrobe staples. I also have too many bright, printed dresses in my closet to count. When I wear these, such as the one pictured, I like to edge them up by pairing them with black booties. I also like these dresses to be the focus of the outfit, so I tend to wear minimal accessories, such as my flower choker. However, I never leave the house without lots of rings on my fingers.
I am so excited to spend another semester with CollegeFashionista, being creative, doing what I love and seeing other fabulous Fashionista/os from all over doing the same!
