Hi to all of the Fashionistas out there! My name is Aishawarya Singh, but I also go by Ash if my name is a little tricky to pronounce. I was born and raised in the mitten state, I’m in love with pugs, I own every single Taylor Swift song and my personality is fun and easy going.
I’m from Troy, Michigan and this fall I will be embarking upon my third year at the University of Michigan. I have been a die hard Wolverines fan since I knew “college” existed, which is why I was elated when I found out that I had gotten into U of M!
After many twists and turns, I have finally decided on majoring in Economics and minoring in Biology or Spanish. I’m also involved in a variety of groups on campus including Epsilon Nu Tau, Student Government for the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, the fashion team of SHEI magazine and the Indian Student American Association.
Growing up, my favorite activity I did with my mom was shopping, I loved seeing the new trends that were popping up in different stores and putting together potential outfits in my head. As the years went on I’ve got to say that this habit of mine has never died. I love everything about fashion and I love the fact that it is constantly evolving; looking to the future as well as the past.
I look to celebrity street style for inspiration; however, a big part of my personal style comes from keeping up with the new arrivals and trends at retail stores. This habit developed from my time spent working at Hollister Co., where we would be constantly updating the store with new clothes that captured the direction that they thought fashion was headed. I think that this experience was great in developing my personal style and helps me analyze in which way trends are going.
I would say that I don’t have a go-to style, however, I wear and experiment with anything that I like. For example, in my photos I am wearing a printed kimono, high-waisted shorts, a crop top, statement jewelry, henna and hair stickers. My style is constantly changing and I love trying different trends!
Lastly, I’d like to say how excited I am to start this journey with College Fashionista and how appreciative I am for this opportunity to showcase my personal style.
