Hello, fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Alex Riba and I am an incoming sophomore. I am beyond ecstatic that I get to share this experience with all of you this fall. My concentration is Media Studies and hope to tailor my education to all things fashion and photography.
I was born and raised in a small city (more like town) called Summit, New Jersey. The major attractions in Summit range from the Starbucks on the corner to Magic Fountains famous ice cream. Naturally, I found my passion for fashion (cheesy, I know) by exploring the streets of New York City on the weekends.
Before attending school in New York, I was blessed with the opportunity to spend the entirety of my freshman year in London. I was amazed by the city’s beauty and how much it differed from New York’s style. There’s no denying that city life is something I cannot live without, and this year proved that for me. Each area in London had different vibes but were all inspiring. If you wanted to feel hipster, (I believe Brits mastered this look) Shoreditch was the right spot to go. Feeling posh? Oh darling, Mayfair is the only way. Cuffed jeans, high socks, sporty-chic trainers and a staple bomber jacket are some of the many trends I witnessed. I’ll miss you, London.
Now, the fun part. Here are a few of the many weird facts that make up Alex. I have to do everything in odd numbers (especially in three). I cannot pick a favorite color because I think that picking favorites is just plain mean. However, if hounded, you will be glad to know it is blue. I love swimming and used to do it competitively. I have an unhealthy sunglasses addiction (no really, I own about 10). If I could describe my style, I would say that I approach each day differently. Overall, I live for rugged-simplicity and a bohemian feel. I don’t go a day without stalking my Instagram explore page for inspiration. I love my daytime moisturizer. I’m a Sagittarius, and lastly, anyone who knows me, knows that I am a sucker for a statement lip. Buxom full on lip sticks and NARS lip pencils are among my favorites.
As this is a bio, I went with an outfit that I think encapsulates exactly what I like. An easy item for me is always a romper. Throw it on for a party or a chilled dinner outdoors and you will look put together. This one is from H&M. My vest is something that I added to add flare and that rugged accent that I love. I got this on sale at Banana Republic as well as the gladiator sandals. Add a pop of color with a fun lip shade. This NARS velvet matte lip pencil works well because it never dries my lips out. Throw on some fun bracelets and a light bag and you are good to go. You can find a tote similar to mine here, as well.
I said it before and I’ll probably say it again and again, I am more than excited to be able to share my passions with you. I can’t wait to raid the streets of New York City and find amazing people like you! Let me see those trends, people.
