Hi there Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Alexandra (more commonly known as both Ally or Alex to those who know me best), and I am very excited to become part of the Style Guru team this fall semester. I am currently completing my final semester at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Upon graduation this winter I hope to pursue a career in buying or merchandising.
My interest in fashion began at quite a young age. Beginning around age five, photo evidence captured by my mother portrays various occasions of me dressing up head-to-toe in clothing and accessories found in my grandmother’s closet. By the time I had my first job at age 14, it was safe to say that with every paycheck, a shopping spree shortly followed (not much has changed).
It wasn’t until a few years ago that I had the realization that I might actually be able to turn my love of fashion into a career. Once I figured out the path I wanted to pursue, I decided to pack up my bags and move to the Big Apple to attend school and chase my dream.
I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to not only study what I love at such an amazing school, but to do so in my favorite city. Where better to study fashion than in one of the fashion capitals of the world? Fashion and style inspiration are easy to find on every corner in New York City. I am inspired on a daily basis, not only through the vibrant streets of New York, but also by my classmates on campus. I am looking forward to being able to share that inspiration, as well as my personal style with all of you!
