Hi guys! I’m Alexia (Lexi for short), and I am a sophomore at the University of Connecticut. This is my first semester as a Style Guru. Around campus I am known as the “grungy girl,” a ’90s girl born and raised! I’ve always been one to rock dark colors with pride. I am a shopping addict! You can always catch me in Forever 21 or PacSun in the mall. I go there so much that my closet is getting too small to fit all of my clothes in. In my downtime, I love planning my outfits for the upcoming week and just laying on my dorm floor listening to vinyl records on my favorite turntable.
I definitely get my outfit inspiration from my mom, who was a teenager in the ’90s. I still rock some of her vintage scrunchies and flannels. Just by looking through her old magazines, I can think of outfits within a millisecond. Pulling together grungy outfits is a pretty simple task because you’re meant to look at least a bit disheveled. Band merchandise is always a must. This Rolling Stones vest is is a prized find from the depths of Forever 21––I love how it brings an effortless punk look.
My most treasured personal pieces would be my collection of choker necklaces spilling out of my jewelry box. And since they are so popular now, I have no problem finding chokers in stores. I never leave my house with a naked neck. Even one choker is not enough. Layering is necessary. If you’re having a lazy day, throw on a choker and I can guarantee you will not regret it.
