Hey there, my fashion-forward friends! I am beyond excited to be a Style Guru for this upcoming spring semester and explore fun, new trends. I am currently a senior (yikes!!) at The University of Rhode Island, and I am an English and journalism major, so having this awesome opportunity to write about fashion and personal style is especially thrilling.
One of my favorite things about college has definitely been the opportunity to truly find myself and experiment with each aspect of the person I want to be. For me, college is the real deal when it comes to prepping yourself for the real world and the rest of your life. After attending a private school for the majority of my life (where uniforms were a requirement), I was just itching to be able to finally discover my own personal style, and grab some inspiration from those around me. Â As unnerving as it can be to be in such a large, new place, everyone is gaining a sense of themselves as well, making it easier to blossom and grow on your own terms.
When it comes to defining my own style, I have a smorgasbord of words that pop into my head.  I immediately jump to the word edgy, but I love the sweetness and freedom of bohemian flare, thus often combining pieces like a flowy dress with a leather jacket, or a pair of my favorite Converse to find an interesting combo that is so “me.” Style and fashion are about freedom, dynamics and defying the limits, so it is impossible to confine yourself to just one word.
I can’t wait to continue to find myself and be inspired by all of YOU throughout this journey as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru!
