A big hello to all of my readers and fellow fashion lovers! This is my first official post as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru. I am so excited to be a part of this and hope that I can share trendy styles and fashion wisdom with you all in the weeks to come.
This fall I will be a senior at the University of Rhode Island. I am majoring in Fashion Merchandising and Design and minoring in Public Relations. I can’t even believe how fast time has gone. It feels like just the other day I was a little freshman in my first textile science class. Now my head is full of so much knowledge about fabrics, fibers and everything in between.
I love going to the beach, traveling, and of course staying on trend with the latest styles. I am constantly scouring through magazines and online fashion websites to see what’s up and coming. I get most of my inspiration from street style, Pinterest, and various fashion stylists’ social media accounts. I would describe my style as casual/comfortable/chic with a boho vibe. I feel that it’s difficult to define one’s personal style with such words, but I think that gives you a good idea. I do own an excessive amount of black and white clothing, but am looking to dive into some color.
I’ve had a love of fashion from a very young age. When I was little the only games that drew my interest were dress up and of course Pretty Pretty Princess. I would slap on a frilly pink gown with some fake plastic jewelry and be ready to go. My style has since changed and is continuing to evolve everyday.
In this photo I am wearing a soft, oversized white tank top paired with cut-off jean shorts. These two pieces are so versatile and great basics to have in your closet. I have paired these basics with a pair of brown gladiator sandals and a colorful printed kimono. As I mentioned earlier, I love playing up basics. To add even more color and fun to the look I threw on this beaded stone necklace.
I hope that I have inspired you to put a spin on some pieces that are already hiding in your closet. Fashion is everywhere you look and even some places that you don’t. Your personal style is up to you, go out and embrace it!
