Hello and happy summer to all you Fashionistas/os! My name is Ali. I am a sophomore at Indiana University majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Apparel Merchandising. This is my first time being a Style Guru and I am so excited to share with you, my sort of fan club (…hi Mom and Dad) what fashion really is to me!
Over the years, I have semi-gracefully expressed myself throughout my kid, tween and teen phases. I’m sure many of you can relate? Or at least I hope. The clothing I wear has forever been my favorite way to express myself, and most of the time, my daily emotions. The way one top or a distressed pair of blue jeans makes me feel may be ridiculous to some, but for me fashion has always been there to cheer me up no matter how tough my day has been. Fashion empowers me to be my best self and enables me to be confident in who I am. I am constantly on Instagram following my favorite celebrities and their favorite stores, which fortunately have become my favorite stores, but my credit card is not as appreciative for those social media accounts as I am.
A few fun facts about myself include: white nails are always a must-have for me, no matter what the season. I am sickly obsessed with The Kardashians (quite possibly Kim’s number one fan). My body may be in the snowy tundra of Indiana University, but my mind has never once not been at the beach. I foam at the mouth when I see a floppy hat and/or boyfriend jeans. I change the color of my hair constantly (next up is pink). I will drop everything I’m doing and go get sushi, whatever time of the day it is. Sushi, anyone?
Anyways, back to the serious stuff. My personal style mainly consists of an endless amount of flowy tops, ruffle dresses and a massive collection of graphic T-shirts. By this point I think that the employees at Free People and Wildfox Couture know my name and shipping address by heart. On a comfy day, I like to wear my favorite pair of tie-dye leggings with an oversized sweater. I become obsessed with that same sweater when it doubles as the perfect “going out” outfit to throw on with a pair of wedges. There are so many things that I am excited to share with you stylish people this summer! I’m dying to find the hidden Fashionistas/os this summer and am especially excited to feature the ones I already know so much about! Stay tuned!
