Hey, peeps! My name is Ali Reynolds, and I am a sophomore at UGA. This is my first semester interning with CollegeFashionista, and I could not be more excited.
A little about me: I am a double major in consumer journalism and fashion merchandising. One of my long-term goals, as of now, is to be the editor of a major fashion magazine. I say as of now because I have changed my major three times already in the course of my very short college career. That’s one of the best yet most overwhelming things about UGA; I had always been showered in the phrase “you can do whatever you want,” but never fully and truly believed it until I started attending this university. There are so many opportunities and paths to go down, and I have been trying to make sure I pursue each of my interests to see what fits me. I am pretty positive I am now where I’m supposed to be.
My personal style is really not a style at all—the fashion world is ever changing, and I always adapt, trying some of the latest trends, or not. That’s the other thing about my style: I am very opinionated when it comes to what I wear. If I like a trend, I’ll try it, and if I don’t, I’ll enjoy watching everyone else rock it while I stay true to myself. My biggest inspirations are Isaac Mizrahi (all the time), especially his documentary Unzipped (if you haven’t watched it, drop everything now) and The Devil Wears Prada. One of the most important factors about each and every outfit I wear is comfort. For example, in this outfit you see me sporting a pair of Ugg boots. Love them or hate them, they keep me warm and are extremely comfortable, which if I’m outside in winter, is what I care about. They also contribute to my “warm and cozy” look that I adopt just about every time the season’s change from sunny and 75 to what I consider freezing. I’m absolutely obsessed with sweaters; they are currently taking over my closet, overflowing my drawers, and stuffed under my bed. Jean jackets are a go-to, not only because are they vintage and cute, but also they block the wind and biting temps like nothing else. If it were time for class, I’d switch out my black jeans with a comfy pair of leggings, and if it were super cold, I’d opt for a sweatshirt under the jacket rather than a sweater. For a night out, I’d throw on some booties and be ready to go.
If you’re ready to see some bomb outfits without compromising comfort, stay tuned. I think the most important and admirable thing about fashion is that you can do whatever you want to and represent who you are through the clothes you wear and how you carry yourself in them. Confidence and, of course, comfort are key to every outfit.
