Hello amazing Fashionistas/os, my name is Alison Rugg, and I am a senior at Johnson & Wales University, majoring in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Marketing. I grew up in the smallest state in the U.S. also known as the little ocean state, Rhode Island! I’m very sarcastic and love to laugh, and enjoy spending time with friends who have a great sense of humor. Some of my favorite things to do are traveling to exciting new places, taking unique photographs, writing whatever comes to mind, dancing to throwback songs from the ‘90s and shopping till my wallet cries and my feet hurt (I am the queen of finding major deals).
I am the co-president of the international fashion society at my school, and have helped produce its annual fashion show every year for the past three years. I created the street style column for my school newspaper, the Campus Herald, and was a columnist for two years. For the street style column, I interviewed fashion-forward individuals on my campus about their own personal style. I also interned for two different companies, the first was as an editorial intern at a wedding magazine, the second was at a local interior design business. I partake in freelance photography where I specialize in families, newborn, fashion, event and senior portrait photography. My closet consists of 90 percent classic J.Crew pieces and 10 percent fluff. I would have to say my style is a healthy mix of casual preppy and bohemian vintage. I have an obsession with all things vintage and love collecting old cameras from way before my time. In the future I plan to travel the world and experience as many cultures as possible. For a career I am striving to work within the exciting fashion journalism and photography field.
My current outfit in these photos is quite the unique mix of brands, but is exactly what I wear on a day-to-day basis. I am in love with a classic tailored look and always like to add a bit of an edge to my outfit; whether I am dressing up for an event or I am dressing down for an early morning class in Providence. I am wearing a long sleeve, striped boat neck painter T-shirt, with black skinny jeans both from J.Crew along with a black tailored vest from J.Crew Factory. My accessories include black leather ‘wrap-up’ Steve Madden booties (which are my latest obsession, and the most comfortable boots I own), the braided tassel pendant necklace from Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski, a tile blue structured Michael Kors selma saffiano leather satchel handbag and handmade flathead screw earrings by none other than my boyfriend! He is quite the jewelry maker I have to say.
I am so excited to start this new chapter in my life and sharing all things fashion with you! Just remember what fashion designer, Rachel Zoe once said, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.”
