Hi everyone! My name is Alison Whittington and I am making my Style Guru debut. I am an upcoming junior at James Madison University, majoring in Writing, Rhetoric and Technical Writing with a double minor in Book Arts and Asian Studies.
My major may seem like a bit of a mouthful, but ultimately I want to use my degree and become a fashion writer for a magazine, that is, after I move to South Korea for a year to teach English. At least, that’s what I can imagine a best-case scenario of my future would be. If I end up doing something else in the big scheme of things, I can only beg and pray that it’s being a professional dog walker in sunny San Francisco, but I digress.
The origin of my passion for the fashion world came long ago, back when my older sister would buy magazines and I would take them and look in awe at the beautiful models and their beautiful clothes. Of course, that is one thing I still do today, despite my awe being directed towards the price tag on the page more than anything else.
My personal style is nearly always in a state of limbo, which I attribute to my expensive taste and barren wallet. Looking good on a budget is not always easy, but I tend to make due with a few of my classic favorites: skirts, long socks and big sweaters. However, when the seasons start to change and the sun emerges, I love high-waisted shorts and a comfy T-shirt. This time around, I’m wearing a cute black lace top, which I paired with a dainty necklace. Finally I tied the look together with a plaid shirt tied around the waist (which doubles as a practical clothing choice if you tend to get as cold as I do out there in the real world).
At long last, I look forward to being a part of the CollegeFashionista team and hope to showcase a lot of great looks and inspire readers to create their own. Look forward to my future posts!
