Hello, Fashionistas! My name is Alyssa Acevedo. I am currently a junior at the Pennsylvania State University where I am majoring in Journalism and minoring in International Studies. Part of this minor requires me to take 14 credits somewhere abroad; ultimately, I chose Milan. What Fashionista wouldn’t want to spend a semester studying in the fashion capital of the world?
I have such a love for fashion because I believe it’s the best way someone can express themselves. Fashion is always changing and there are so many trends and styles that can be brought together to reflect your own personality. I, myself wouldn’t give a personal label to the type of styles you’ll catch me rocking. One day you could catch me in a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans topped off with some lace-up heels and the next I could be in a simple trapeze dress with a pair of over-the-knee boots.
I’ve always seen myself as someone to stand out from the rest when it comes to what I wear. It doesn’t matter if I’m spending a day traveling to the city or if I’m just simply running to the grocery store. I will work it walking down that fruit aisle.
Coming from a small town located outside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, there wasn’t much I could do with fashion in the area growing up, so I’m beyond thankful to be a Style Guru this semester. I’m ready to see what I can really do when it comes to writing for fashion and I can’t wait to expand on the upcoming trends the Fashionistas and Fashionistos will be rocking on campus this semester.
