Hey, Fashionistas/os!
My name is Alyssa Kotowski. I am majoring in fashion merchandising and minoring in business at East Carolina University. I grew up in Mooresville, North Carolina, which is located right outside of Charlotte. I spent most of my time on Lake Norman or going into the city where I surround myself with endless shopping for the latest street styles. I’m super excited to begin this journey of being a Style Guru with CollegeFashionista to express my love for fashion even more.
My love for fashion began when I was a little girl, when I always dreamed of living in New York City so I could surround myself with fashion. My dream continued when I was able to tour NYC fashion district with my merchandising department last year. We were able to tour show rooms and corporate offices where we could network with sales managers and merchandising executives. I knew this is exactly what I wanted to do and I wouldn’t give up till I’m there.
Fashion is such an important aspect in my life. I am either studying merchandising, working my retail job, or looking up the latest trends online. You can read a lot about a person just by looking at what they wear. It’s a form of art that can speak a thousand words. Whether you love fashion or not, it’s a huge part of our lives. My own personal style is boho-chic and I have an obsession with stripes and accessorizing any outfit to make it complete.
I try to stay as busy as possible. I’m in the sorority Alpha Phi, which gives me a million ways to enhance my leadership abilities and to help my local community all in one. Being in a sorority exposes me to a diverse group of girls who all have different styles. Whether we’re going to class, out on the town or hanging out in our castle, we each have our unique personalities that molds the way we dress day to day.
I am currently spending the summer in Greenville, North Carolina and traveling in my free time. I believe everybody should stay true to their personality no matter where you are living. Wear what you want and always feel as confident as if you just spent a million dollars on your outfit—even if you`re a killer bargain shopper like myself.
