Hi fellow fashion lovers! My name is Amanda Castellano and I am a junior at West Chester University of Pennsylvania. I am a communication studies major with a double minor in Italian and international business. I am in love with the ocean, ice cream, 6-inch stilettos, chuck taylors, over sized handbags and ’80s and ’90s style trends (minus the crazy ones that should be gracefully forgotten from history). I am an avid reader of anything and everything, painting and all things expressive, including my wardrobe. I am a Jersey native but have migrated across the border to the lovely state of Pennsylvania. I am a cancer and completely believe in zodiacs and fate. I believe that everything happens for a reason even when it comes to style.
Style is defined as a distinctive appearance, typically determined by the principles according to which something is designed. That something is you. Style is like taking your personality and wearing it. It’s like taking all you feel on the inside and showing the world without saying a word. Style is as expressive as writing a diary entry or painting a picture. It is showing your true self.
This semester, I am going to explore my true self through style and see how others use their style to show the world who they are. Everyone wakes up, gets out of bed and looks in their closet to get dressed. But I want to know why they pick those clothes, how each person decides to wear that dress with those shoes or why that handbag matched that outfit the best to them. Each one of us sees style differently just like we see each article of clothing differently.
