Hello ladies and gentlemen of the fashion world! My name is Amanda DioGuardi and I am a sophomore Public Relations major at the University of Florida. I have been interested in fashion for as long as I can remember. And if you were to ask anyone who knows me, they would tell you the same thing. One story in particular stands out.
My mom always says one of her absolute favorite things to do with me as a little girl was to go clothing shopping. She said that whenever we would stroll down the aisles at your typical children stores, I would always grab the most unique looking clothing I could find. She would then ask if I really wanted to wear something so bright or so ruffly and of course my answer was always yes! Apparently, I liked to stand out as a child and had already developed my own personal style, as shown by my daily pairing of my favorite Dorothy-esque ruby red slippers with just about any outfit I wore. This passion for expressing myself through a unique taste in clothing has stuck with me throughout my life and has caused me to develop an obsession with the fashion industry altogether. As a result, I decided it was time for me to dive head first into the personal styles of college students from around the country. And what better place to do it than CollegeFashionista?
I could not be more thrilled to be a Style Guru for this fall semester, as a future goal of mine is to write or edit for fashion and style magazines. As most fashion enthusiasts, the ultimate dream is to be pursuing my passion in my favorite place in the entire world—New York City. Since I was eight years old, my family has been traveling to the city that never sleeps each year during either the summer or Christmas time. With each year of visiting, my love for the bright lights and hustle and bustle has grown stronger and stronger. With the experience of writing for CollegeFashionista, I have no doubt that I am getting closer and closer to accomplishing this goal.
My personal style definitely varies depending on how I’m feeling. Today I decided to pair a Zara top with some basic black shorts, which is definitely an outfit I wouldn’t mind wearing to class. I slipped on my favorite Arizona Birkenstocks and added a simple gold necklace to top off the look. In addition, I wore a cross-body bag that I recently purchased from World Market. It is the perfect size and can fit all the essentials! This outfit is a pretty good representation of what I typically wear around campus, as it is casual and comfortable.
I am truly looking forward to a RAD semester with CollegeFashionista and I can’t wait to share the up-and-coming Fashionistas of the University of Florida with you!
