Hey there Fashionista/os! My name is Amanda Kaplan and I am a freshman at Columbia College Chicago studying Fashion Journalism. Since writing and styling are my two loves, I am super pumped to be starting this internship with CollegeFashionista!
For as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with scrolling through blogs, Instagram and Pinterest in order to get outfit inspiration. I would take notes and incorporate some of my favorite bloggers’ looks into my own everyday ensembles. As soon as I started recognizing my own personal sense of style, I began creating my own outfit posts on my blog, Brunette with a Budget, in order to help my readers “stay fashionably confident.”
I view personal style and fashion as a way to ignite one’s self-confidence, and through my blog, I teach my readers how to do so while still maintaining a reasonable budget. Through my blog, I have discovered my own sense of self-confidence and have been the happiest I’ve ever been.
Let’s get real: it’s a tough world. You’re going to run into people who may not like you, you may run into hard times at school and work, but fashion will always be with you and by your side when you need it the most—especially for those super rough days when all you want to do is curl up in bed with your favorite sweatpants. For the days when you feel on top of the world and throw on your signature dress, it can’t get any better than that.
