Hello! My name is Amelia, and I’m a student at University of Wisconsin-Madison. I am currently undeclared, but I hope to soon begin studying fashion business or marketing. Needless to say, I love love love fashion and am so excited to get this opportunity to share the style all of the amazing Fashionistas and Fashionistos hiding away in the Midwest.
For this look, I went with a classic, muted color palette and a lot of emphasis on the silhouette. Statement tops are about to be huge, so I decided to go for a super-wearable version of that. The white top was slid down over the shoulders to expose the lace straps of a matching bralette, which can be fudged with lots of looser tops just by tugging them down that extra little bit. The white-on-white color coordination here creates a cold-shouldered, clean look with a lot of texture and complexity in the shape and material. Mirroring the girlish feel of the top, the chunky Mary-Jane style heels complement and enrich the neutral colors of the top and pants and gives a little bit of extra curve in the legs. And of course, for a little pop in the beauty department, I went with a pink lip and a sassy half-bun.
I am personally a believer in fierce exploration of self, and fashion is the perfect way to experiment and discover. I have been, like many others, through the gamut: a biker jacket phase, a dress to school every day phase, and of course the dreaded Ugg boots phase. As embarrassing as they are, all of those have contributed to my style today; a little mix of everything. I’ve since consigned that old biker jacket and picked up a new, more classic leather piece, and I no longer wear those dresses every day, but you can still see that femininity in the heels and lace that dress up my favorite Old Navy skinny jeans. Don’t be afraid to go out on a limb! Keep your eyes peeled for new street style, go window shopping often, and don’t hesitate to pick up that risky piece that your heart is pulling toward. You never know what you may fall in love with!
