Woah! It sure feels weird to think about this being my fourth semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. For those of you who aren’t quite familiar with me yet, here are some things you should know. My name is Ami Cornell, and I will be starting my senior year of university at Buffalo State College in the fall where I study Fashion Merchandising and Marketing. Summer, above all others, is my favorite season by far. In the summer, concerts are meant to be attended, and my Netflix account is meant to be abused. I may have more free time in the summer, but I keep myself busy by interning for CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru and as an Editorial Intern. I also dabble in ice cream scooping and making latte art.
I find myself inspired by fashions of the past (think Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy Onassis and Audrey Hepburn) and of the present, in any arena—movies, television shows and campus Fashionistas/os. When people ask me about how I would define my style, I’m often left thinking, but then I’ll blurt out fashion go-to words such as classic, preppy and rocker-chic. My style is hard for me to nail down. I find as each year passes, or semester even, it changes in some noticeable way. How I dress tends to reflect how I feel, what I’m hoping to achieve or even some type of media that has impacted me significantly (we’ve all had a Gossip Girl phase). Minimalism is something that’s taken over my life for quite a while now, effortless fashion oftentimes makes the biggest impact.
Be ready this semester to read about many Fashionistas and Fashionistos that will not only redefine what it means to be fashionable to you, but will also make you want to completely amp up your look for the summer. After all, summer vacation won’t wait forever.
