Hello, Fashionistas/os! My name is Amy, I’m currently a senior at the University of California, Davis majoring in Textiles and Clothing. I was born in Oakland but was raised in Alameda. Growing up in the Bay Area allowed me to be exposed to all different types of fashion. This is my first semester with CollegeFashionista and I’m very excited to share my love for fashion with you all.
As a child, art was undoubtedly my favorite subject in school. It held a certain appeal that I found lacking in other subjects. Art does not amount to a single correct answer unlike math or history; it is entirely creative rather than intellectual. I favored any activity that enables the use of creativity, so it came as no surprise when I found myself drawn to fashion.
My style has changed dramatically over the years. The most memorable of my phases was during early high school where I had an obsession with Harajuku street style. Needless to say, there was a lot of pink and Hello Kitty involved. I find it ironic how nowadays, I’m almost always dressed entirely in black. I like to tell people that the only color you’ll see me wearing is my hair color.
I believe this outfit is an accurate representation of my personal style. Because I wear a lot of black, I like to keep it interesting by layering or mixing different textures. It’s starting to get colder so recently, I’ve been really into faux fur coats. This black one is differently my favorite because it makes me feel like a fashionable yeti.
