Hola, amantes de la moda!
I’m Ana and I am a Digital Art major at Northeastern University. I was born and raised in Venezuela. In 2011, after graduating from high school, I arrived in Boston where my days as a photographer/psychologist/graphic designer (way too many minors) started.
Throughout my life, I have known people who think that fashion is all about expensive brands, skinny models and extravagant runways. I have also heard that the industry is very shallow and frivolous. However, for me, fashion is magical. We, the general population, are used to see the final products—we just see the showcases. But a few people, the lucky ones, have the chance to treasure the entire process of making an idea into something real. They can see how a visionary design and impeccable craftsmanship work together to give life to a beautiful garment. Breathtaking, don’t you think?
Besides being enchanted by this process, fashion is also the way that I express who I am to the world. Waking up in the morning and choosing my outfit is like I’m choosing to be my best me and that is just wonderful. Also, I truly enjoy dressing up because it’s fun.
My main goal as a Style Guru is to look around and find the most unique, striking and amazing street styles around Boston this upcoming fall, hoping that my findings will inspire you to go out wearing what you love. Also, as a personal goal, I want to keep working on what makes me truly happy, which is taking pictures.
Every single person has a different style. In my case, my style is classic, feminine and kind of preppy. I love circle skirts, A-line and princess dresses, button-down shirts, cardigans and ballerina shoes. However, because I live in a city where it is cold basically the entire year, sometimes I like to add a little bit of edge to my style by wearing combat boots, leather pants or shorts and fur vests.
For this occasion, I decided to go with what I think is the best representation of myself, my girly-dressy side. The outfit is made by a lavender sheath dress with a lace floral pattern and back cutouts with a pair of neutral ankle strap heels. For accessories, I chose my statement piece, my pearls necklace along with pearl earrings and several gold rings. This combination is simple, sophisticated and perfect to go to several events.
I’m very excited to start this Style Guru journey. I really want to see what I’m going to find this coming fall. Don’t forget to check out my first of the month post!
