STYLE GURU BIO: Andrea Fernandez

Hola Fashionistas! We meet again. This time, my STYLE GURU BIO leaves a bittersweet taste in my tongue. I’m not 100 percent sure if I will be joining my fellow Style Gurus next semester because I graduate this December. Even though I walk and receive my diploma in May 2016, I’m not returning to the hallways of Emerson College until graduation. What hurts the most, this semester is my last one as Co-Editor-in-Chief of Emerson’s fashion and culture magazine

To leave my Debbie Downer mood to the side, lets talk fashion. This summer I interned for NYLON Magazine in N.Y.C. It was an incredible experience and I got to surround myself with such talented Fashionistas/os. Thanks to such exposure, my style developed and became more chameleonic than ever. Also, I can finally say this was the summer of my dreams. I got to work at a place where I felt I belonged, I got to work with the #RAD team of CollegeFashionista in amazing collaborations for Intermix and American Eagle Outiftters and every day, I got to explore the city that never sleeps. Cliché, but very true.

The other day, I got asked: “How would you describe your personal style?” I answered “chameleonic.” Don’t get me wrong, it got me thinking for a while. But I think that word best describes what I feel about fashion and personal style. I love that every morning I get to be whoever I want to be, without stopping to be myself. This transition between summer and fall got me feeling groovy. This outfit encompasses my go-to items: flared bottoms, T-shirts, and an overall ’70s vibe. Also, I’m forever addicted to chokers. I just can’t stop layering them. I love the flared yet modern hem of my jeans. The only downside, I have to make sure my suede heeled gladiator sandals are noticed. Because I’m clearly not taking them off until my little fingers are freezing in the Boston cold.

This semester, I’m going to give my all into everything I do. More than ever. Everything is starting to take shape, and I am so excited to see what the future holds for me. Until then, I’ll be spotting Fashionistas on the windy street of Boston and reporting as always, that being cool in the cold is not so hard after all.
