Hello there! My name is Andrea Lazaro and I am a senior studying apparel design and merchandising at Appalachian State University. I was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico and moved to the United States when I was 13 years old. Design is something that has always been around in my family. My grandmother has sewn dresses for me since I was very little and she was born into the industry because of her father who owned a fabric store in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. My mother also being an interior designer when I was young and now currently using her talents to design and make handmade jewelry influenced my decision in wanting to pursue a career in design.
I am very excited to be a part of the style guru team here at College Fashionista as it is allowing me to combine my two passions—writing and fashion, and giving me an opportunity to have a voice in this amazing industry.
When it comes to my style, I rarely stick to just one. My outfits range from being very minimalistic classic, to extremely retro, to bohemian, to just a t-shirt and leggings. Being able to be yourself and dress however you feel on a certain day is one of my favorite parts of being in the design program. No matter what I am wearing, I always feel encouraged by others to be myself and I look up to others who do the same.
For this look, I wore a striped hand-me-down skirt that my aunt gave me (there really is nothing better than free clothes) and styled it with a simple black top and my favorite lace up wedges. Since I felt that my outfit was a little on the simple side, I decided to spice it up with a pair of big statement earrings that I absolutely love.
I hope you love my look as much as I do! If you want to keep up with me and my style make sure to follow my social media and check out my upcoming posts!
