STYLE GURU BIO: Andrea Schultz

Hi! My name is Andrea Schultz and I am a sophomore at Oklahoma City Community College. Being a diversified studies major, I am able to combine the studies of both business and photography to work together towards one degree.

Creativity runs through my veins. I have found self-expression through many different avenues, however, fashion has always been my favorite creative outlet. From sewing my own clothes to reconstructing pieces I find at the thrift store, I always try to express my personality through clothing. My style varies daily, but I tend to gravitate towards Asian fashion, vintage, grunge or anything quirky and cute. I believe that it is the details that make the outfit, such as adding funky pins to a simple denim jacket. Photography, reading, writing, travel and music are also major inspirations in my life.

I love using photography to capture the beauty of a moment from my perspective. Whether I’m taking candid shots of my friends or composing a professional image, photography is definitely my favorite hobby (outside of putting together my day’s outfit, of course!). Taking photography classes through college has definitely helped me take my hobby to the next level.

I also enjoy reading because it is a way for me to escape into another world where my mind can roam free. Not only does it get my creative juices flowing, it inspires me to strive to go above and beyond what seems impossible. I am more of a reserved person, so writing is the perfect tool for me to organize my thoughts and voice my opinion without actually having to say a word.

There is something so refreshing about traveling somewhere new. I would hop on a plane anytime, to anywhere, any day! Even though I have never traveled outside of the country, I have had enjoyed visiting nearly half of the United States.

I really love music as well, but who doesn’t? Everybody has that song (or ten) that they just can’t refrain from jamming out to, which for me currently would be anything from Grouplove, Twenty One Pilots or The Shins.

Basically, to quote my girl, Maya Angelou, “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive, and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor and some style.”
