Hello! Bonjour! Hola! I’m Anna Friesen (like Princess Anna from Frozen)! I am a senior double majoring in Communications and French at Virginia Tech. I love languages, art and learning about other cultures. I also love the outdoors, especially the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Coming into college, I was unsure of the career path I wanted to take. I started as a French major thinking about becoming a teacher. However, I didn’t know where French alone could take me so I started looking at the things I loved and what I liked to do. Then, I looked at the stack of Vogue magazines piled high in my room and realized that journalism is the path for me.
Fashion has always been a part of my life. I had lots of pink in my closet and I always made sure my outfits matched perfectly. You could say I was a girly-girl growing up. My best friend and I loved to go shopping at dELiA*s and Abercrombie & Fitch. We’d envision our future selves and make up what our closets would look like as rock stars.
Now, I continue to make perfect outfits. I follow Vogue, Refinery29 and other social media fashion blogs to keep up with fashion trends and pop culture. Journalism and fashion are things I 100 percent love to do.
I would consider my style to be “simplistic traveler.” I don’t put too many elements into my outfits, instead I take inspiration from the outside world. Each outfit is unique and different like each country and it’s culture. And now with my French language skills in hand, I like to think that I’m always dressed and ready to explore the world.
I am so excited to write for CollegeFashionista this summer. I hope my #RAD style inspires you!
