Hi there, Fashionistas/os! My name is April and I’m a junior studying integrated marketing communication at Duquesne University with the goal of being a fashion public relations consultant one day. In my spare time, you can find me petting someone’s dog on campus, furiously scrolling through my Instagram feed and binge watching all of my favorite beauty gurus on YouTube.
My love for fashion started when I discovered Sex and the City and it grew when I picked up my first issue of Vogue in middle school. When I was in high school, I came across a quote by Yves Saint Laurent that changed my life. He said, “I have always believed that fashion was not only to make women more beautiful, but also to reassure them, give them confidence.”
I believe that fashion is more than just what you wear. Fashion is who you are and it allows you to express yourself in ways that words cannot. Fashion designers are constantly being inspired by street style fashion, and I am so excited to see how I will be inspired through my interactions with the beautiful individuals on Duquesne University’s campus.
So, what exactly is my personal style? Well, it changes everyday. Since, my style changes constantly with the newest fashion trends, I can always rely on my love for dresses to never go out of style. I think that dresses are the most comfortable and versatile article of clothing that you can possibly own, and in today’s post I’m sporting a beautiful short-sleeved dress with crisscross detailing across the chest. This dress is perfect for the summer to fall transition, because of its gorgeous deep berry color and it gives hints of the warmer months with its teal and orange accents. I am absolutely obsessed with small details and just love how this bralette is able to bring more attention to the brighter colors of the dress. To finish off the look, I paired the dress with some lace-up booties, a cross-body bag and some mirrored aviators.
I’m looking forward to starting my journey with CollegeFashionista, and hope that you will all stick with me this semester as I pound my heels into the pavement and take Pittsburgh by storm!
