Hello, stunner! My name is Ashan-wa Aliogo and I am currently a Junior at Duke University studying French and International Comparative Studies (ICS), plus a certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship *flashes smile.*
I’m an American-born Nigerian obsessed with all things colors, prints and green tea. I also happen to love sunshine, trees, traveling and the French language. I am passionate about all things prints especially African-prints as I was exposed to them at a very tender age. They make up a grand part of African culture. Their diverse patterns and vibrancy feed my soul and make me grin so hard. Yeah, I don’t know why either.
People always asked where I got my clothing from and how I was able to pull of several colors at once. With that, I started my blog Miss LAJA where I strive to promote my Nigerian and African roots through fashion, beauty and writing. I give a modern and personal twist that deviates from the traditional ways of styling African prints. I have been exposed to really amazing opportunities like styling for and coordinating fashion shows. It’s been an amazing journey, one I’m truly excited and grateful for. I also share traditional African adages and their meanings and I occasionally play around with the traditional African headgear, gele.
Any-hoo, I’m really excited to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista because not only do I get to share my styling advice on different trends, (especially prints *wink wink*) but I also get to learn and draw inspiration from you and other members of the CollegeFashionista community and beyond. I’m just happy to be part of a community that’s as crazy about fashion as I am. It makes me seem less crazy.
Besides stalking other fashion blogs like Kayture and Atlantic-Pacific, I equally enjoy reading novels and magazines, analyzing photography, shopping in all forms and honestly speaking, sleeping.
