Hello everyone my name is Ashley Cabrera and I am exhilarated to join the CollegeFashionista family. I am originally from New York City and I will currently be a sophomore at University of Bridgeport in Connecticut.
My intention is to double major in Fashion Merchandising and Psychology. Wanting to become a fashion psychologist has influenced my life in a tremendous amount. Many people may say that fashion is not the best career to persevere in the future since it is a challenging industry to become successful on. Right now you are all wondering “What is fashion psychology and what does it consist of? Basically, fashion psychology is about understanding why people wear what they wear and the effects their clothes have upon other people and on their own thoughts and emotions.
In terms of fashion itself, I am fascinated with the makeup, styling, photography and designing aspect. My fashion style is usually inspired by my favorite fashion designers. Overall, I find my fashion inspirations from Betsey Johnson, Alexander McQueen, Coco Chanel, and much more. Each designer has a unique style, technique, quality and details which emphasizes a sense of femininity. Style and our self-image make an authentic visual impression on us. Style is psychologically subversive to others when in reality it determines who we are as a person of interest.
Our society today has a tremendous impact in our lives, especially in how we view ourselves. Fashion magazines, advertisements, television shows and movies have made it difficult for us to trust our self-appraisal. Style gives us the ability to be creative, think outside the box and just express ourselves however we desire. I personally describe my style as more bohemian, authentic, fun but very chic.
As a new Style Guru at CollegeFashionista, I would love to inspire others and show them the wonders behind fashion. Most students are not aware about the importance in finding their own style. In my opinion, young women and men are too caught up with society’s trend rather than their own fashion artistry.

Consequently, fashion is a popular trend but it all depends on how you style it. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and what makes you feel beautiful. After all, fashion is not only about beauty, it consist of good attitude .All my friends, acquaintances and classmates admire my styles. I have various styles because it expresses who I am in every form. There will be days when I will dress elaborately but then there are days I rather dress very cool and casual. I truly enjoy getting dressed and just combining pieces together. Fashion has always been my dream and my true inspiration ever since I was young. Fashion completes us all and brings out our uniqueness. Fake is the latest trend; we need to be different, and just be ourselves.
