Hello Fashionistas/os! I just wanted to take the time to introduce myself. My name is Ashley Grear, and I am currently a junior at Dominican University majoring in Rhetoric and Communications. This will be my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, and to say that I am excited for this opportunity would be an understatement. I am thrilled to be able to share my love for fashion with others who share my same passion. Fashion has always been a part of my life. Growing up, I would spend so much time in the mall, you would have thought I lived there.
For me, fashion is not just about the current trends that people are following, but instead fashion is about having your own unique style that sets you apart from the rest. Growing up, I was very shy. As someone who would always try to refrain from being the center of attention, it was often easier for me to follow the crowd instead of trying to create my own path. However, as I got older, I realized that I was not born to be a follower but instead a leader, starting with my style.
Over the years, my style has definitely evolved. I do not have a specific way to describe my style because it honestly depends on how I feel. One day I will feel sporty and the next day I could feel really girly. However, what I can say is that my style is timeless. I love making a statement with the clothes I wear. I love sticking to the classics, but I will pair something “neutral” with a bold piece that will be sure to turn heads.
