Hello readers! My name is Ashley Williams and I am a senior Journalism News major at Ball State University. I am excited to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team starting my first semester as a Style Guru.
So, why did I choose to be a Style Guru? Fashion is something that gives me joy whenever I see it. It makes me happy whenever I’m around it. The bright and soft colors or the way one item looks with another is all just amazing. Fashion gives me this unexplainable feeling that I would never want to be without!
What I could say sparked my interest for fashion was the many magazine subscriptions I would receive from Seventeen and Nordstrom clothing store—not to mention the many other magazines I would pick up and read where there was a magazine rack: ELLE magazine, Vogue and  Harper’s Bazaar, just to name a few.
Any item that caught my eye would find its way into my own little fashion notebook. Within a month, the pages were puffy and filled with different styles of shoes, dresses, pants or clothing in general I dreamt of having. I would draw my own clothing designs as well based off of what I saw.
Now, when I’m not looking for updates on the latest episodes of Rip or Rave (our university’s Fashion Police) or upcoming fashion shows, I’m constantly on social media and keeping busy and active with my sorority.
At the moment, my style revolves around oversized sweaters and the love for leggings. It’s comfortable whenever there’s a slight chill in the air and perfect when the weather un-expectantly changes.
For example, the high for this afternoon was only 64 degrees. That’s pretty chilly to me. I layered together a white knit sweater with a burgundy, long sleeved shirt. I paired with it some basic black leggings from Rue 21 (they are my favorite!).To top it off, I work my tan ankle booties. I also had my floral-print purse with me; I bought it from the Goodwill.
I also like the ’90s style: overalls, crop tops, high-wasted pants, etc. Anything great and bold! All and all, I’m open to trying new styles and ideas and coming up with something at the end that I enjoy. I can’t wait to share with you all!
