Hey fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Beth Kaplan and I’m a freshman at Columbia College Chicago. I’m studying marketing and creative advertising. My passions include photography, traveling, going to concerts, exploring Chicago and finding new ways to express myself through fashion. I grew up in the suburb of St. Charles, just an hour outside of downtown Chicago. When I was younger, my initial interest in fashion came from the style I would see from people on the streets of The Windy City.
In April, I went to London for spring break. I saw so many people rocking trends that haven’t made their way to the U.S. yet. Shoreditch is full of crazy cool styles that are unlike anything I’ve seen here. I must also mention that Chelsea has some very posh fashion choices. Ladies, if you’re looking for a British guy to drive you to Harrods in his solid gold Lamborghini, then Chelsea is the place to be.
Now, I’ll give you a little insight on my personal style. First and foremost, I have an unhealthy addiction to shoes. Seriously, I have an entire shoe closet back home. I’m currently obsessed with bomber jackets and adidas trainers. I love buying clothes in neutral colors, because it always looks chic and I can mix and match it with other neutrals in my closet. It’s hard for me to choose a favorite color when it comes to fashion, but my go-to color is definitely black. Black looks so sleek on everyone and will never go out of style.
So here’s the scoop on my outfit. I’m wearing a 100 percent silk romper by rag & bone. I love rompers because they’re the perfect summer outfit. It allows you to dress up without being too dressy, which is a happy medium. I paired this outfit with a Baublebar statement necklace that brings out the olive tones in the romper. On my feet are some comfortably cute Franco Sarto suede sandals in sandstone. These shoes have just the right amount of heel to give you that confidence boost, while the chunky sole provides comfort for walking around the city all day. My wrist is accessorized with my all-time favorite rose gold jewelry combo. My watch is Olivia Burton, a London-based brand. The watch is paired perfectly with this rose gold Links of London bracelet. This is the perfect summer outfit to wear to a grad party, a day out shopping or a brunch date.
