Hey, everyone! I’m Bethany, and this summer marks my one year anniversary writing for CollegeFashionista. This past year has been full of growth in both my writing and my personal style, and I’m excited to see where this next semester will take me. I’m a rising junior at DePaul University in Chicago, but I will actually be in New York City this summer completing a public relations internship. Therefore, all of my photos will be taking place in the beautiful Big Apple, and I’m very interested to see how this change in location will inspire my personal style!
Speaking of personal style, I’ve really been experimenting with basic pieces like T-shirts, jeans and sneakers since the weather has started to finally get warmer. This past year I focused on buying more statement pieces and incorporating trends into my wardrobe, but my goal for this summer is to find ways to utilize wardrobe staples in new and interesting ways. For instance, I’m shown here wearing one of my favorite tank dresses. It’s a plain gray color with a formfitting style, so there really isn’t anything too exciting about it. However, I was able to spice it up a bit by adding my go-to jean jacket and leopard print sneakers. With a few minor details like rolling the sleeves, popping the collar and adding a watch and sunglasses, my simple dress is quickly turned into the perfect outfit for exploring the city and walking along the lakefront.
This summer I’ll be focusing on providing you all with transformation stories similar to my tank dress one. That way, you’ll be able to see just how easy it is to build a wardrobe with a few key pieces, like my jean jacket and leopard print sneakers. I’m looking forward to helping you all establish your summertime go-to pieces, as well as keeping you updated with my NYC adventures!
