At last, my favorite season has begun. The days have finally turned warmer, the sun has finally broken away from spring’s restraining rain clouds, the sand has finally greeted my feet as I happily sprint towards the ocean and I am finally here to say hello. Who am I? My name is Bethany and I am currently enrolled in good ‘ole Slippery Rock University studying Environmental Studies. However, after some recent self-reflection and a great deal of thought, I plan on transferring out to double major in Fashion Journalism. This decision was fueled by my dreams and aspirations of one day finding my place in this amazingly beautiful world of fashion.
My change in career choice was admittedly fairly drastic, but my opinion of it being right for me stays strong. Although this year has been an enjoyable journey towards discovering new aspects of myself and becoming more open and accepting towards amazingly great opportunities such as this crazy-awesome CollegeFashionista internship, the amount of confusion focused around discovering who I am was overwhelming at times. Yet, there was always that one specific thing in which I was surely able to comfortably declare and take pride in; that is, my style. That style, which is normally pretty casual but occasionally involves a twist of something I like to call “pretty punk” (which truly I should change to “pretty dork” as that may be more suitable), has defined my personality. Basically, it tells everyone that I’m a somewhat well-dressed, nerdy hippy. It has also taken part in helping me realize that I truly do love fashion. Creating new outfits, gleefully mixing patterns, boldly trying new lipstick colors; all merge together to create a wonderfully stimulating and fun obsession of mine. It is a pretty honest fact that my closet is my favorite part of my bedroom.
Speaking of closets, my summer wardrobe normally consists of shorts and tank tops (to complement my obviously sun-kissed skin), but I have never hesitated to throw in an abundance of skirts and dresses such as this halter dress from American Eagle. I love throwing in pops of color which is why I happily threw in this gorgeously colored clutch. Of course, my favorite accessory is the one that helps me see. My Warby Parker glasses are my favorite buy of a lifetime and a fashion accessory I almost never regret.
