STYLE GURU BIO: Bobbie Shrum

Hi loves! My name is Bobbie, and I’m currently a junior at the University of Oregon. I’m majoring in Public Relations with a minor in French, and someday hope to work in the fashion industry. This is my first semester with College Fashionista, and I’m really looking forward to it!

I’ve just returned home after spending three months studying abroad in France, and while I wasn’t wandering through chateaus and eating macaroons, I was able to witness the effortless and enviable French-girl style firsthand. I’ve spent the last three months hogging more than my fair share of dressing rooms and bringing home two very heavy suitcases in my attempt to replicate the incredibly chic women that I was surrounded by.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had an interest in fashion. I wore a uniform while at school, so I experimented a lot with my sartorial choices in my free time. This can easily be witnessed in photos of 10-year-old me wearing rainbow ombre, leopard printed leggings and kitten heels. And, while my fashion sense isn’t that bold any longer, my love for creating a great outfit has been unwavering.

Today, my personal style is fairly diverse. I’m almost always more likely to be found wearing a skirt or dress rather than pants, and would describe my style as being equal parts bohemian, classic and comfortable. I draw inspiration from the world and women around me, but also from 1950s and ’60s styles. To me, Jane Birkin and Brigitte Bardot are two of the most iconic and original Fashionistas.

In my spare time, you can usually find me in the kitchen baking, having a Taylor Swift dance party with my friends or reading. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book, and I’m a true romantic at heart, which can sometimes be translated through what I’m wearing.

I’m so excited for this opportunity and semester with CollegeFashionista! See you on campus!
