Hey, fellow fashion enthusiasts! My name is Brea Cubit and I’m a junior at the University of Missouri-Columbia. I’m majoring in journalism, with an emphasis in magazine editing, and minoring in textile and apparel management to pursue a career in fashion journalism. I’d love to write for and be an editor of Glamour, ELLE, Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar, but if I land a job at any other major fashion publication (I’m looking at you Marie Claire and Cosmo), then my life would seriously be complete. Seriously.
This is my third semester with CollegeFashionista, which is pretty #RAD. Being a part of this community has connected me with some spectacular people and I hope my network with other Fashionstas and Fashionistos continues to expand.
Other than being a style guru, I enjoy a variety of different things. I’m a very visual person, so I’m really into photography, creating mood boards and anything picturesque. Aesthetic is everything. Real talk. I’m also an avid lip-syncher and binge watcher of Netflix and pretty much anything on Lifetime. There’s nothing like wrapping up in a blanket, ordering pizza and watching a movie about a girl who shows up to a husband and wife’s house claiming she’s the husband’s long-lost daughter, only to later reveal that (*spoiler*) she’s actually the husband’s mistress and they concocted the plan to get the wife to want a divorce by—okay, I won’t get into the entire plot of one of my faves, A Wife’s Nightmare, but you get it. I clearly get really into these movies. They’re just so horribly good.
Anyway, I am indeed a coffee lover, like a lot of college students would say, but chai tea is my bestie. As a matter of fact, I spent 99.9 percent of my mornings drinking a giant cup of black spice chai tea while reading Fashionista.com in my Batman pajamas. Do not, I repeat do not, interrupt my quality time with chai tea and Fashionista.com in the morning. I’ll probably turn into Brea Priestly and casually say something like “Details of your incompetence do not interest me,” and continue to flip through the pages of Glamour like I didn’t just nonchalantly channel Meryl Streep’s famous character. No biggie.
My fashion icons are Beyoncé (duh), Zendaya (shocker) and Cara Delevingne (September cover of ELLE, anyone?). Those three are my absolute favorites and I get a lot of style inspiration from them. They’re girly, yet tomboyish, “I’m going to do me” attitudes are relatable to me. So, in my head, we’re all basically best friends and we’re grabbing lunch tomorrow (*sigh*…one day).
So, that’s just a little snippet of who I am, my interests, etc. If you want to know more about my quirky, random self, then follow me on Instagram and Twitter and add me on Facebook and Snapchat.
Now, let’s have a flossy semester, y’all!
