Hello and welcome to my fashionable little corner of CF! My name is Briana Rivas, and I am super excited to be a Style Guru! First, a little bit about me.
I like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain…just kidding, although I do love enjoying a piña colada in a hammock on the beach every now and then. I’m a real life mermaid (yes, I can swim in a tail), a makeup addict and I love to read sci-fi books! I believe that shopping is the best therapy–next to a sweet glass of wine and a good laugh of course.  My family is my world, and I’d be nothing without their love, support and craziness!
I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Myrtle Beach, SC for college. Â I started off getting my degree in theatre, but after doing an internship in the fashion industry, I decided I wanted to switch gears. My boss/mentor encouraged me to start my own fashion blog and thus, a dream was born! Â This past semester, I made my way back to CCU for round two; this time for a degree in journalism. Â My dream job would be writing or editing for a fashion magazine.
Fashion has always been a major part of my life. Â My parents both went to college for fashion; my mom for merchandising and my dad for textile design. So basically, fashion and style are in my blood! Â At the ripe age of seven, I started designing clothes. Â I used to park myself in front of the TV and watch the runway shows on the Style Network (man, I miss that channel) while documenting the trends for that season.
As I got older I got more into styling myself and continued to design.  In high school, I joined an online magazine (before blogging was really a thing) where I was able to write about fashion and all kinds of lifestyle related things. I really enjoyed it because it brought together two of my favorite things: fashion and writing. I was always the fashionable friend– the one that all of my friends came to for advice. From then to now fashion has slowly taken over my life in the best way!  I made my way into the fashion industry, attended both NYC and Philadelphia Fashion Weeks, and grew my blog into the best creative outlet!  And now I have the honor to work with this amazing group of people that we call the Style Guru Gang! I can’t wait to share this adventure with you all.
