Hello all you Fashionistas/os! My name is Bridget Bunton and I am a senior at Loyola University Maryland majoring in Journalism with a minor in English. I am stoked to be back for a second semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, especially in my last few months of my undergraduate studies—I’m still in denial about that whole graduation business.
Last semester was wonderful, getting to photograph various fashionable fellow students on campus. Constantly scanning the quad for an ensemble that stood out truly opened my eyes to various sartorial styles and broadened my fashion mindset. Another bonus was taking a drive from Baltimore to Georgetown for the CollegeFashionista x Kate Spade Saturday event! I cannot wait to start snapping shots of all the fabulous Fashionistas/os on campus this semester.
I love that fashion is a visual expression of personality and identity. Someone can say so much about who they are and what they’re all about by what they don on a daily basis. At the same time, fashion can be played with, and one can be daring with a different accessory—bold shoes, etc. It all comes down to asking, “What part of me do I want to show the world today?”
While I’ve had several fashion faux pas in the past (velour tracksuits, anyone?), I think I’ve come into my own, sartorially. My sense of style has definitely been influenced by various pieces of pop culture. I can trace it back to that first issue of Teen Vogue I borrowed from my older sister and then continually re-watching classics like Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Clueless. Even today, I am constantly inspired by my surroundings that are always changing.
Right now, being back home for the holidays, the chunky knit trend is definitely on my mind. I’m all about knit or sweater pants, oversized sweaters and capes, and then dressing it up a little with a season appropriate and comfortable heel.
While I’m enjoying home, I am so excited for my second semester as a Style Guru to show the sartorial skills of my fellow Greyhounds!
