STYLE GURU BIO: Cara Vedral

Hello there again, Fashonistas and Fashionistos! I’m so happy to begin my third semester working for CollegeFashionista and to continue finding the latest trends around Temple University’s campus. Writing for CollegeFashionista has been such a great experience that I knew I could not stand to see it end.

For the first 10 years I was raised in the state of New Jersey and now at 20, I have spent those remaining 10 years growing up in Pennsylvania. I am so lucky to attend Temple University, especially because it is only a few short subway stops away from the heart of Philadelphia. Being able to enter such an iconic city at such accessible means is a great blessing and tremendous learning experience.

Every time I travel into the city I am immediately influenced through various cultures and styles. It is crucial to be exposed to diversity because how people express themselves, especially through the clothing they choose to wear, tells a lot about them personally. Seeing a variety of ensembles gives me inspiration to step up my own wardrobe.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from CollegeFashionista is that you don’t have to fit into any sort of “box.” While it is important to have your own style, it needs to truly be your own. There’s no harm in mixing, matching and experimenting in whatever you choose.

A specific trend I am loving this winter is cowl neck sweaters. More relaxed and updated than turtlenecks, cowl necks provide both style and comfort and I’m sure I’ll be seeing a lot of these this upcoming semester! Layering a fun statement necklace is one of my favorite ways to transform a casual outfit into an instantly more fancy one! A leather cross-body bag is a must, whether I’m shopping in the city or running errands around campus. Accessibility is key! I can’t wait to report from Temple’s campus and I hope you’ll stay tuned for all the exciting things to come this semester!
