STYLE GURU BIO: Carla Dannug

Hey, what’s up? Hello! I’m Carla Dannug and I’m currently a junior nursing student at Loyola University Chicago. Despite the countless all-nighters and crazy amount of stress, I am loving every minute of college! This will be my first year interning for CollegeFashionista and I couldn’t be any more excited than I am now! This internship is exactly what I need to keep me sane in this nursing program because it’ll give my science-based brain an opportunity to take a break and really get my unexercised creative juices flowing!

Allow me to tell you a little bit about my story. I’m from West Chicago, and no that is not located in Chicago. West Chicago is actually an hour away from the city and is a quaint suburban town that’s full of friendly people and ridiculously amazing Mexican restaurants. I am a lover of science, medicine and fashion, a follower of King Beyonce, a fitness junkie, an avid learner, a frequent and loyal attendant to Lollapalooza, music concerts and Bulls games and a chronic adventure-seeker. When I’m not studying at the library, I’m probably exploring a Chicagoan neighborhood, running along the Lakefront, trying out a new fitness class (free trials, of course), liking Instagram posts, discovering funky vintage thrift stores or boutiques, hanging out with friends and family or at home Netflixing The Office.

My personal style varies on my mood, but generally, you’ll see me wearing something chic, trendy and comfortable. This outfit serves as one of my go-to’s because it’s simple, stylish and easy to throw on when I’m in a rush. My shorts are from Aritzia and are definitely my favorite item in my closet. You can dress them up or dress them down—they’re so versatile! They also have an elastic waistband so they’re incredibly comfortable! This outfit also includes a white tank top from Express. I like tucking in my tank top because it gives the whole outfit a more polished look. I topped off the outfit with a simple fitted blazer and black booties that still have the dirt remnants from Lollapalooza. (I’m clearly not ready to let go of the Lolla Land days just yet). I found the blazer from a thrift store and bought it for only four dollars! I know, I couldn’t believe the price either! As for the booties, you can find similar booties from Shoemint. To finish off the look, I am wearing a necklace from World Market and Ray-Ban sunglasses.

Again, I am ecstatic to begin this internship with CollegeFashionista! What I love about Loyola is how culturally diverse it is. With cultural diversity comes bold and different types of styles. And with different types of styles comes me and other style gurus, who can’t wait to start snapping pictures of everyone’s outfits. Loyola, show us your fall fashion!
