Hi there friends! My name is Carla, and I’m so stoked to be a Style Guru this year. I’m a sophomore at Penn State majoring in French (ça va!) and advertising, and minoring in international studies. I’ve been in love with fashion ever since I was a little girl, like so many of the other rad Gurus.
I would describe my style as classic and vintage inspired with trendy pieces mixed into my wardrobe. I love a good A-line silhouette and a classic watch, but I also love a pair of edgy boots, too! For this look, I chose one of my favorite sundresses in this happy yellow hue and added an adorable neckerchief to jazz it up. Neck scarves are one of my favorite trends at the moment; they add an element of sophistication to any outfit. They’re great if you’re not really into jewelry, and they’re a great outfit talking point. I need to have a little bit of sparkle in every outfit, so I added a gold bangle. For my shoes, I picked this pair of heeled sandals. I’m 5’9”, but I still love to wear heels whenever I can! My favorite element of this outfit is my Louis Vuitton Speedy 25, a beloved hand-me-down from my mom. I feel very Audrey Hepburn in this outfit.
One thing I love about fashion is that there aren’t any rules! There are guidelines and suggestions, but in the end you’re the one wearing it—so do what you want. Never think for a second that you can’t wear something because it’s “not your style.” It’ll become your style once you wear it, and everyone will say, “Wow, I would’ve never thought to wear that together!”
