Why hello there my fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Carli Barr and Western Kentucky University is where I’ve called home the past two and a half years. I’ve done nothing less than fall in love with this campus and its people. I am so stoked to be a Style Guru for spring 2016! I have always been a huge fan of CollegeFashionista and I can’t believe I am officially a part of this super RAD team.
So here is a little bit of my personal life. I have come a long way since high school. Granted, everyone has, but college really has shaped me into the best version of myself, and I’m still growing. I went from being an insecure, selfish and pessimistic girl to a confident, giving and optimistic young woman. I have really opened my eyes to the possibilities and greatness the world has to offer; living each day as if it were my last. I truly believe that the people you surround yourself with effect who you become. So far, I’m pretty proud of who I am and where I’m going.
But on to my real love in life.. fashion. In high school, I was so conflicted about what I wanted to study and what career path I wanted to pursue. All I knew was that whatever it was, I needed to love it. So my junior year it hit me. I figured out I wanted to go into fashion and from there it has only deepened. Now, coming into spring semester of my junior year of being a fashion student, I am reminded every day that I made the right choice. My style has really evolved over the years, from preppy to boho to even a little grunge, I’ve really just become a big melting pot. Like this look here, I went with a trendy plaid skirt, simple black turtleneck and a denim jacket. I added a touch of sophistication with a kate spade bucket bag and gold watch. And to top it all off, a pair of classic Ray-Ban aviators. I’ve been a big fan of anything black this season, and as I’ve been told by my friends, “it matches my soul”. Take that as you may!
I am a true believer that art, in all of its forms, is the breath of fresh air to the world. From art, to music and fashion, it serves as an outlet for the artist to express themselves however they wish. It’s honest, pure and inspiring. And I am so excited to express to you my breath of fresh air this semester. I hope to bring the same inspiration and passion to my readers about fashion that it has brought to me!
