Hello! My name is Carly Colonnese and I am thrilled to be returning as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this fall. I am a senior this year at the University of Michigan majoring in Communication Studies and minoring in Art and Design. In addition to writing countless essays for school, I enjoy lusting over fashion spreads in ELLE magazine and obsessing over French bulldogs and mini cacti. You will also find me constantly stalking my favorite fashion blogger, Harper & Harley.
My style has changed since my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista, as I now live my life in a perpetual state of neutral-toned clothing. Shades of gray, black, brown and white decorate my wardrobe, so the focus is on the outfit as a whole, rather than a specific clothing piece. The minimalistic fashion trend has caught my eye, so here’s to a semester of minimalistic style focusing on aesthetic and shape rather than print and color.
I am wearing a brown J.Crew sweater and dark J Brand skinny jeans. The cooler fall weather is slowly setting in, so I donned a (faux) leather jacket. The jacket I am wearing is from Urban Outfitters and you can find a similar one from Zara. I’m absolutely loving the sneaker trend right now, so to finish this neutral-colored outfit I wore studded slip-on sneakers from Steve Madden.
This semester my articles will be posted on the first of every month, so check back (somewhat frequently) to see what I’ve been up to and what trends are popular on the University of Michigan’s campus!
