Hello fashionistas/os! My name is Carly Sicker. I am a fashion merchandising major with a minor in journalism at SUNY Oneonta, located in central New York. I will begin my third and final year at SUNY Oneonta this coming August. For my senior year, I plan on attending The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Until then, however, my goal is to find you the most RAD Fashionistas and Fashionistos that my hometown in Western New York has to offer!
I guess you could say that my love for fashion began at a very young age. Walking into kindergarten wearing a fur lined bright red coat, I was a fashion force to be reckon with. If I’m being honest, I sort of wish that coat still fit.
I think that my appreciation for fashion began at such a young age because that was when I realized how much fashion effects the way you feel. I love the way that my clothes make me feel because each piece of clothing makes me feel a different way when I put it on. With that, I wouldn’t say that I have a specific style. My style ranges from tutus to boho to ‘90s grunge. There’s nothing like putting on your favorite pair of comfy leggings or pair of killer heels that make your legs look bomb. However, as any Fashionista knows, the two feelings are completely different.
Fashion gives you a way of expressing yourself without saying a single word. The way you are dressed is everyone’s first impression of you, so why not use that to your advantage? Even those who say they really have no preference in what they wear must have had some reason as to why they put on the outfit they did that morning. Embrace your style. Wear what you love simply because it makes you feel good.
In this look I’m wearing a light summer dress from Aerie. I then decided to dress it down and make it more casual by throwing on a pair of adidas sneakers and a denim button-down shirt around my waist, topping it off with a pair of shades.
