My name is Carly Sommers, and I am a senior at Marquette University in Milwaukee. I grew up in Indianapolis, so I am a Midwest girl at heart. Growing up, fashion was a huge part of my life because of my Grandma. She has impeccable taste and introduced me to fabulous clothes and designers. Lately, my style uniform has consisted of crop tops, high-waisted jeans and a bold lip. I feel most powerful when wearing a bold lip because it really brings a look together.
I am so happy to be joining CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru. For me, style has been a way to express myself and further develop my personality. In high school I was extremely reserved and fashion was a way to express myself. Since then, I have always loved to experiment and try different trends.
Last fall, I studied abroad in Lyon, France. Throughout my time there, I learned so much about my own personal style and was influenced a lot by my surroundings. Previously I had fallen into the “everyday is a leggings day rut” so I decided when I got to France to give up wearing leggings all together. This has been a struggle at times but also allowed me to explore my style and become so much more confident. I have become much more adventurous and open minded to trying new trends. This year has been my biggest style evolution, and I can only hope to further develop my style with CollegeFashionista.
