Hi guys! My name is Carolina Sara and I am a returning Fashionista for my second semester. I am currently double majoring in marketing and fashion retail studies at The Ohio State University. While Ohio may not seem like the best place for a lover of fashion, it is actually a retail powerhouse. Columbus is home to retail giants like Victoria’s Secret, DSW, and Abercrombie & Fitch, and is quickly becoming home to many local retail shops. The city that is home to The Ohio State University is rapidly growing with unique art galleries, clothing boutiques, and chic restaurants which makes it the ideal location for a Fashionista.
My personal style could be described as a mix of classic and natural. I can usually be caught wearing neutral colors and simple silhouettes. I like going for an effortless look which is why I often resort to neutral colors. My style is a mix of feminine and masculine aspects and in my opinion, a more minimalistic approach to fashion. On a typical day, I can be found wearing black jeans, black booties, and a simple top or sweater with a statement necklace or a watch.
Recently, I have developed an interest for sustainability and keeping the world we live in safe. Because of this, fashion’s most recent shift and attempts to become more sustainable is very exciting for me. The idea that shoes can be made from recycled material and that dyes for clothes can come from natural resources is a step in the right direction for the fashion world. When I was younger, I aimed to buy as many clothes as I could with as little amount of money. As I’ve grown older, I have learned to appreciate quality over quantity and have learned that having a few key pieces can make for many different outfits. Still, there is no feeling better than getting a good deal. Pictured, I am wearing my latest steal, a WhoWhatWear wrap coat. On this day, I decided to style it simply by pairing it with a black and white striped turtleneck and black jeans. I added a simple rose gold watch and small earrings. Of course, I wore none other than my signature go-to black boots.
A new year means a lot of different things, especially in the ever-evolving fashion world. I am excited to see what this semester has in store and more importantly, excited to share it with you all!
