Welcome back to school fellow Fashionistas/os! After spending an entire summer in Chicago as an editorial intern for CollegeFashionista, I’m so excited to be back in the good life. Getting back in the swing of things is usually a drag for me, but this semester I’m so looking forward to it.
A little about me: I’m a junior this year at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I grew up not too far from Lincoln, NE. I have a childhood cat who’s my ride or die. I drink way too much coffee and have worked at way too many coffee shops.
A little about my style: It’s hard for me to get out of my comfort zone with fashion since I grew up in a conservative small town. I’ve recognized this about myself and have tried to push my boundaries further since entering college. This summer, Chicago sparked something in me and I traded in my dark brown locks for sparkling silver strands. I can tell you now that it’s going to be hard to go back—I’m in love!
For clothes, I love a good neutral palette. My go-to’s are blacks, greys, whites, silvers, maroons, golds and tans. I’ve recently added a pale pink to my wardrobe. I guess Pantone’s Color of the Year, Rose Quartz, inspired me.
Neutrals are so cool to be because you can mix all of these wonderful patterns and textures together and still have a cohesive look. Like I did above, I paired a mod-podged animal print blouse with these black and brown polka dotted mid-heels. The colors match perfectly and the patterns add interest to the outfit just like a pop of color would’ve.
I’m so excited for another semester with the CollegeFashionista gang. Look out for my monthly articles this fall!
